11 hours of sleep taught me more than coffee ever could

Last night, my girlfriend told me something simple:

“Don’t set an alarm. Just try it. You need to relax sometimes.”

Now… normally, I’m the kind of guy who always sets an alarm. Even on weekends. Even if I don’t technically need to wake up early.

I like waking up early.

It feels like I would have complete control over my day if I did.

Besides that, I enjoy routine and structure.

But she INSISTED.

So I thought, "Fine. What’s the worst that can happen?”

Well… here’s what happened:

I slept for 11 hours.

Eleven. Full. Hours.

When I finally woke up, my first reaction wasn’t, “Wow, that was refreshing.”

It was: “Damn it, I wasted half my day.”

I got annoyed. Frustrated. Even a little angry. And in my head, I started blaming her for telling me to skip the alarm.

Kinda dumb, right?

Luckily… all of that stayed in my head. I didn’t let it spill out of my mouth and onto her.

Instead, I stopped myself. I asked:

“Wait… why did I even sleep this long in the first place?”

Did something happen to my body?

Was it the food I ate last night?

Was it just laziness?

No. It was none of that.

The truth is, I was just exhausted.

I’ve been running hard the past few months... college deadlines, building a business, keeping my body in shape. I thought I was fine. But the reality was, my body was sending me signals every day.

I kept waking up with low energy.

My thoughts felt scattered.

Even coffee didn’t hit the same anymore.

And then, finally, when I gave myself permission to rest…

For the first time in weeks, I woke up with a full tank of energy and a clear mind.

And you know what? My girlfriend was right.

She saw the signal that I kept ignoring.

But here's the thing:

Signals don’t only show up in your health.

They show up in your business, too.

That sales page you keep sending traffic to, but it never converts...

That’s a signal.

More traffic won’t fix it. The page itself is broken, maybe the headline doesn’t connect to your target audience, maybe the offer suck, maybe your emails aren’t aligned with the message on the sales page.

If visitors keep coming but no one buys, that’s your business telling you something’s off.

Ignore them long enough, and they’ll explode into something much bigger (and harder to fix).

But if you catch them early...

If you zoom out and look at the big picture, you can save yourself a ton of trouble.

The problem is, we’re often too focused on the bad side of a situation.

Like me, blaming my girlfriend in my head for making me waste a morning… instead of realizing she actually helped me reset my body.

So don’t be like me. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Look at the signal.

Ask what it’s trying to tell you.

Because sometimes, the thing you’re resisting… is exactly what you need.

Have a wonderful day,

Chayanon Sangkhamfan.
