Is AI making you dumb?

This morning, I found an article about how AI is making people dumber... and even less creative.

It reminded me of my professor’s take on AI:

AI is fxcking your mind.

And you'll be replaced by it if you don't think for yourself

He wasn’t wrong, tho.

He’s been tracking student performance in his class for the past ten years.
And when the university allowed AI use...

Scores dropped SIGNIFICANTLY.

Most students now don’t even try to understand the concept and have AI to summarize for them.

They don’t ask professors questions anymore, they just ask AI to summarize.

So yeah... AI does make you dumber.

But only if you let it do the thinking for you.

I see the same thing outside the classroom.

People try mass cold emails with AI.

They copy-paste prompts they don’t even understand.

And here’s the irony:

OpenAI just opened a writer position. Even they still need humans who can think.

Here's something to think about...

The best AI prompts are from the smartest people.

The best copywriting prompts are from the best copywriters. The best marketing prompts are from the best marketers. The best writing prompts are from the best writers.

This stems from one reason:

These people, they think.

And they know what they want AI to do to make their jobs better, faster, with more volume.

They delegate the most boring jobs that waste their time to do what matters...

...which is actually writing copy.

While we are just copying their prompts and using them without knowing how to make the best out of them.

And stop thinking for ourselves.

That’s why knowledge is still king.

You can’t write an engaging tweet with AI unless you know the principles of what makes a tweet work.

You can’t sell with AI copy unless you understand why copy sells.

AI doesn’t replace thinking.

It amplifies it.

Best,

Chayanon Sangkhamfan.
