My messed-up day (and why you should prepare when everything breaks)

Today’s been messy.

I got sick… and so did my mom.

There's a flu epidemic in Thailand... and I caught it.

I woke up with a sore throat and a runny nose. I thought that was it for the day… but no.

Even with a little energy left in the tank, life kept throwing things at me.

Here’s how it went:

I woke up pretty early, but the sore throat was already there.

But I didn’t care too much about it…

I thought if I rested a little more, it would get better.

Besides, I hadn’t slept enough anyway, so... I might as well keep sleeping :D

WHIRR WHIRRRR

...

My mom is doing construction work in front of the house.

Somehow, I managed to sleep through that.

I thought it was fine … until I woke up with a headache on top of the sore throat.

Anyway.

I went on with my day.

Shower. Breakfast. Play with my dogs.

Then it was time to work… I picked up my stuff and went upstairs to my room.

But my mom was there … changing the door.

We’re moving out soon, so I guess she was just doing her job.

So, I couldn’t get inside to grab my laptop.

I was left with just my phone and iPad.

And yeah ... I was lost.

I’m a computer person. I’ve built an environment where I focus best when I’m at my desk. Without that, it felt like my brain just froze.

Then, I thought:

Maybe this is the moment to reset.

Take a real break. Do some college work. Play with my dogs. Read something outside of business…

...But in reality, I just ended up clearing homework.

I tried to do other things, but my mom really needed help too… and since we were both sick (yep, that flu again), the day slipped away.

By evening, we agreed we should see a doctor.

Get checked, maybe get an injection, or at least some medicine.

So we went straight there after dinner.

Spent 3 hours waiting.

By the time we got back, I was hungry again.

So I ate another meal.

And just like that, the day was gone…

No college work finished. No business work done. Not even time to rest.

But here’s what I learned from it:

Life (and marketing) is never a straight line.

You think you’ve got everything planned out, then something hits you — illness, delays, distractions, family.

It doesn’t happen once in a while. It happens all the time.

That’s why systems matter.

Not fragile routines that fall apart at the first disruption, but flexible structures that keep you moving even when things go sideways.

A backup workflow. A lighter version of your routine. A way to keep progress alive on messy days.

Because progress doesn’t come from perfect conditions.

It comes from showing up when conditions are anything but perfect.
